Once again I wanted to depict India's rich culture along with the "yogurt culture" and yogurt is in fact an integral part of Indian culture !!!
Yogurt or curd is a very important part of an Indian meal and it is consumed with almost every meal in a day. There are sweets as well as several other dishes made with curd as the main ingredient. It is believed to help digestion and when ill with an upset tummy curd and rice or rice porridge is the remedy! All Indians love yogurt and especially the Southern part of India people have to have it everyday.
Here I have shown a rustic Indian woman churning yogurt to get butter extracted. The conventional way is to put a churning pestle in the curd and spin it clockwise and anti-clockwise till butter is extracted. The modern housewife however churns it in the food processor. I made the painting in realistic style to gel with Indian culture as well yogurt culture!
